Hayao Miyazaki & Joe Hisaishi

Hayao Miyazaki

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animator, filmmaker, and manga artist. A co-founder of Studio Ghibli, he has attained international acclaim as a masterful storyteller and creator of Japanese animated feature films, and is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished filmmakers in the history of animation. Although the theme of each of Miyazaki's works is different, he merges reflective messages as dreams, environmental protection, life and survival into his works.

I've watched most of the movies by this Japanese animation master more than once, and the fantasy world he creates can always embody my ideas and thoughts of this world. Among them, these 4 are my favorite.

Joe Hisaishi

Joe Hisaishi, a Japanese composer, musical director, conductor and pianist, known for over 100 film scores and solo albums dating back to 1981.

Miyazaki is a master of animation, Hisaishi is a master of music, and they both excel in their respective fields. Miyazaki was attracted to Hisaishi's musical talent, and Hisaishi understood Miyazaki's films. The tacit collaboration between the two made the soundtracks of the films become classics. At Hisaishi's Budokan concert, Miyazaki personally presented flowers. Miyazaki said, "There is nothing more fortunate than knowing Hisaishi," and Hisaishi said, "Knowing Miyazaki is the happiest thing in my life."
